Diesel drama: How price hikes spell trouble for Malaysian farmers (and us!)

He recalls that in March, the government imposed a 6 percent sales and service tax (SST) on the logistics sector.

Remember the domino effect I mentioned? This tax was the second in the Domino series, further increasing the cost.

What does this mean for our farmers, who are the backbone of our food supply?

Well, Dr. Radzi says they will be hit the hardest.

Think about it: How many farmers trust diesel pickers?

Suddenly, those necessary trips become much more expensive.

The government continues to claim that this increase in diesel prices will not affect the price of fruit and vegetables, but Dr Radzi calls this a "fairy tale".

He makes a valid point: if farmers are paid more to grow and transport crops, how can they keep the same prices for us?
