Hey Malaysians! Let's talk about something that affects us all - fuel prices, especially diesel.

You may have seen the news about the diesel subsidy changes, and let's face it, deciphering government press releases can feel like trying to understand rocket science.

But don't worry, we are here to share it in an easy-to-understand way with a local twist!

Basically, it's support.

It aims to make essential goods such as food and transport more affordable for everyone.

But the point here is that the old system was not as efficient as it could have been.

Billions of ringgits were lost due to the leaks, meaning that some people who should not have benefited.

It's like your friend sneaking fries off the plate - not cool, right?

Insert a targeted subsidy for diesel:

The government has decided to make the system targeted.

Think of it as a special discount code, but instead of buying it online, you qualify by using diesel fuel.

That way, the right people get the help they need and our hard-earned tax dollars are used wisely.

The defect is as follows:

Market price for most: From June 10, diesel price in Peninsular Malaysia will be equal to the market price which is around RM3. 35/Liter. This might sound like a leap, but hear us out!

Supporting those who need it most: Don't worry, basic services and those who really rely on diesel are still covered! This is where the targeted portion comes into play:

Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan: Enjoy RM2.15 per liter.

Logistics Sector (SKDS 2.0): Get special fleet cards for diesel at RM2.15/litre to control the costs of transporting goods. This means that prices of everyday items such as groceries should not increase sharply.

Public Land Transport (SKDS 1.0): The price per liter for school buses, express buses, ambulances and fire engines is still RM1.88.

Fishermen: The government recognizes the importance of our fishing industry and keeps the subsidized price at RM1.65/litre.

Cash Assistance Programs (BUDI MADANI): Government introduces additional assistance through BUDI. Here's the lowdown:

BUDI Individual: If you own a diesel vehicle and are a Malaysian citizen, you can claim RM200 per month to offset the higher fuel costs. Think of it as a small cashback!

BUDI Agri-Truth: Are you a small farmer or a small farmer? This program offers RM200 per month so you can manage the potential impact on your income.

Why the change?

The government wants to make sure these subsidies reach those who really need them.

Remember, every ringgit saved is a ringgit that can be used to improve our schools, hospitals and infrastructure - basically things that benefit us all!

How to get your piece of the pie:
